As a Pedestrian Accident Attorney specializing in serious injury and wrongful death cases, our firm has represented the families of pedestrians struck in a similar manner when drivers have lost control due to drunk driving. This type of terrible surprise shocks all of us who rely on the safety of crosswalks and sidewalks for our families. We have represented persons who have suffered serious personal injuries when they are walking down the sidewalk or even sitting in a parked car in parking lot.
I wanted to reach out and let the family know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. Some time, when you are able to think about the legal aspects of this senseless tragedy, you should call a pedestrian accident attorney who will help investigate how this collision happened and who will also be able to explain your options to you.
I understand the unique challenges facing the loved ones when such a traumatic experience occurs. You will need someone to handle the legal work and make sure that your rights are protected. You will need an attorney with the empathy, insight and skill to help you through this and to fight for fair compensation.
Even if you have a hit-and-run collision, a person’s own uninsured motorist coverage covers you if you are driving, riding as a passenger, walking or even riding a bicycle. As long as the accident involves a motor vehicle and there is impact with the motor vehicle, uninsured motorist coverage applies to hit-and-run collisions. Your own insurance company steps into the shoes of the offending driver and covers the claim. This is why it is so important to have adequate uninsured and underinsured policy limits, so that if the person who harms you or your loved ones flees or is financially unable to compensate you fully for your injuries, your own insurance company will cover you up to the limits you have purchased. And if it is a non fault accident, this claim does not go against your record so they cannot raise your rates.
