A 60-year-old man was struck by an oncoming vehicle and killed early this morning while laying down flares on Highway 24 near Walnut Creek, California.  The injuries proved to be fatal, and the motorist was pronounced dead at John Muir Medical Center.  The vehicle was out of traffic, so this just goes to show how this sort of auto accident can be avoided by remaining protected in your car until police arrive.
