Importer Seattle Bike Supply Recall Redline Bicycles Due to Fall Hazard

Comments Off

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of 2008 Redline D640 Bicycles. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

The hazard and injuries: The head tube can separate from the frame, causing the rider to lose control and fall. This poses a risk of serious injury. There have been eight reported cases, including four reports of minor scrapes and cuts.

These bicycles were sold nationwide from December 2007 to May 2010 for about $900.

As a San Francisco Bicycle Accident Lawyer, I’m looking out for bicycle safety by making the manufacturers of dangerous bicycle products accountable. I stand for protection for consumers against defective bicycles and dangerous products, and hope that by doing so, we can reduce bicycle rider injuries.

Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled bicycles and contact a local Redline bicycle dealer to receive a free frame replacement. Redline Bicycles contact information here.

CPSC is still interested in receiving incident or injury reports that are either directly related to this product recall or involve a different hazard with the same product via https://www.cpsc.gov/cgibin/incident.aspx

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission is charged with protecting the public from unreasonable risks of serious injury or death from thousands of types of consumer products under the agency’s jurisdiction.

As an avid bicyclist myself, I have direct experience with the predicament you are in with a defective bicycle, whether you are manuevering the advanced mountain biking trails or traveling with traffic along a busy, winding road to the beach. You should never have to worry that your bicycle parts will separate while riding. At any given time, the product liability attorneys at Choulos Choulos & Wyle are representing several clients who have been injured by bicycle part failure, particularly carbon fiber and aluminum parts. While the big bike companies seek to make bicycles ever lighter and lighter, short cuts are often taken which lead to dangerous and sometimes deadly consequences for the rider. Only when the bike manufacturers are made accountable for their design or manufacturing defects, will we be able to make bicycle riding safer for all of us.

This defective product above poses a serious risk. If you believe that you or someone you love has been hurt by a defective bicycle or bicycle part please feel free to call me or send me an email.
