San Jose: More Pedestrian Accidents than San Francisco

Comments Off

A woman pedestrian was killed this past week when she was struck by a car in East San Jose, said a spokesman for the police department.

Responding to accident reports, the police found the woman who had been hit near Barberry Lane and South King Road, at approximately 4:30pm, Tuesday November 11th.

Officers found the woman on the side of the road, where she was suffering from serious injuries. Sadly the pedestrian later died at the scene.

The driver stopped and was arrested. The events surrounding the accident are still under investigation.

This pedestrian death marks the 38th traffic fatality in 2014 alone, putting San Jose over San Francisco in number of traffic fatalities.

My thoughts go out to the family of the deceased. As a pedestrian accident attorney, hearing that San Jose is now ahead of San Francisco in traffic fatalities just shows how dangerous it is all over the Bay for pedestrians. I have been appalled at the high number of pedestrian deaths in San Francisco, so I am shocked to learn that San Jose has even more this year. The problem is not just localized in San Francisco. Residents all over the Bay area need to be aware of these dangers and start driving more responsibly, and stay aware on the road. It’s up to us to get these statistics down, and make this a safer place for pedestrians. Truly, I see the driving environment is just too distracting and distracted driving seems to be playing a role in more fatalities than any other factor.
